BABEL (Confusion)

Thursday, January 11th, 2007

Hi All,

I watched movie called Babel last nite… quite confusin, violent with human destructive behaviour clearly potrayed … Was recommended by a frend to watch it, but a bit frustated when watchin it.. So depressive i would say, since there’s a lot of pain n sufferin endured by each of the characters.

I realised that the movie has deep meaning n global warmin issue can b one of the example of human destructive behaviour n how it will affect people from different continent…

Today, I was readin an article bout prediction for yr 2007, and what I read wasnt good… Prediction of natural disaster. i guess we all know it deep inside, that its just a matter of time for the world to face it.

To those who would like to watch it, maybe it would be better to understand the meaning of Babel. So I hav paste the information for you guys to read… Enjoy

Ps Johnson, Thank you for your time n im sorry it turns out to be a bad nite for u…. let me know whether we can split the cost…

The Confusion of Tongues by Gustave Doré (1865): the artist has based his conception on the Minaret of Samarra

According to the narrative in Genesis Chapter 11 of the Bible, the Tower of Babel was a tower built by a united humanity to reach the heavens. God, observing the unity of humanity in the construction, resolves to destroy the tower and confuse the previously uniform language of humanity, thereby preventing any such future efforts. The destruction is not described in Genesis, but is mentioned in the Book of Jubilees, and elsewhere (see ‘Destruction‘, below). An interpretive account of the story explains the tower’s destruction in terms of man’s deficiency in comparison to God: within a Judeo-Christian framework, mankind is considered to be an inherently flawed creation dependent on a perfect being for its existence, and thus the construction of the tower is a potentially hubristic act of defiance towards the God who created them. As a result, this story is sometimes used within a Judeo-Christian context to explain the existence of many different languages and races.

Thanks to Brandon as well for your explanation n advise. +)

Experienced in relation

Tuesday, January 9th, 2007

What is meant by nonduality, Mahatmi? It means that light and shade, long and short, black and white, can only be experienced in relation to each other; light is not independent of shade, nor black of white. There are no opposites, only relationships. In the same way, nirvana and the ordinary world of suffering are not two things but related to each other. There is no nirvana except where the world of suffering is; there is no world of suffering apart from nirvana. For existence is not mutually exclusive.

4 am in the morning now… woke up at 2 am and cant sleep again since then on.. mmm now it seems like i have thousand needles in my lungs, makin it hard to breathe…. arghhh lucky my ashtma not backkk againnn… its just hard to breathe, since i have sth tat bothers me at the moment…. heheh +)

The other day, I listen to a radio that explains what makes us differ to animals and the grand essential of happiness in this life can b sum up into 3 things. These are something to do, something to love and something to hope for….

Quite interesting I would say… but happiness can only exist with the experience of suffering. Be able to feel both, happiness n sufferin, then you would be able to find your own middle path… Buddha has taken the middle path n choose to stay in constant flux of mind, to experience inner joy or contentment. …

With me, well i guess im pretty much a hopeless case… +)

Always in trouble, in constant suffering. We all are tho, as long as we live our life in this material world, then we will always be in n out then into troubleee again n again….Tho life is full of suffering but it is also full of ways to overcome it … Challenges wot made us strong but overcoming it makes us happy….

May wisdom grow in all of us, may each challenges gives us strength, may we learn compassion from each other, and may ther always be people to remind us and guide us to become a better person each day everyday….

Company of the Wise

Tuesday, January 2nd, 2007

To travel with the unawakened makes the journey long and hard and is as painful as traveling with an enemy. But the company of the wise is as pleasant as meeting with friends. Follow the wise, the intelligent, and the awakened. Follow them as the moon follows the path of the stars. -

Dhammapada From "Buddha Speaks," edited by Anne Bancroft, 2000. Reprinted by arrangement with Shambhala Publications, Boston, www.shambhala.com.

Any Opinions to share relating to the above quote?

I believe that we should follow the path of the wise, the intelligent and the awakened. However, I believe that in our life, we should also not judge people and being too choosy. Cos everyone’s is special and each one of us has lesson to teach, has wisdom and love to share….

It is good to be surrounded by people whose wisdom can be shared, but it is also good to be with someone who you can practice your compassion and who you can also help. +)

Anyway feel free to give me your opinions???

Mel
